Tooth Whitening

Whiter, brighter teeth are beautiful and can help you feel better about your smile. There are many reasons why teeth may appear discoloured, stained or dark, including your genetics, your lifestyle and diet such as smoking or drinking tea, coffee and red wine, and the ageing process. Tooth whitening can enhance what nature gave you and get your smile looking its best.

We offer both at-home and in-surgery bleaching options, but bleaching at home provides the most cost effective way of achieving a whiter, brighter smile. The level of whitening is the same whichever method is used. Slim custom-made trays are used to apply the bleaching agent for gradual but exceptionally effective whitening. The trays are worn for 4-6 hours at a time, usually overnight, aand treatment time usually varies between 2-4 weeks of wear.

Who can perform tooth whitening?

UK law states that only those on the dental register can carry out tooth whitening and only dental practitioners may use a concentration of up to 6% hydrogen peroxide (18% carbamide peroxide). Tooth whitening carried out by non-dental professionals is illegal, including products containing over 0.1% hydrogen peroxide sold directly to the public. The law also prohibits anyone under 18 years of age from having their teeth whitened.
